Biloxi is right in the very heart of the Gulf coast fishing industry region. Other than the casinos, fishing is their #1 income source. While they catch many varieties around here, shrimp is their mainstay. There are shrimp boats everywhere you look.
We went out on a little tourist boat and they showed us how the fishermen utilize the nets to catch shrimp. It was very interesting. They actually put the net in the water for 15 minutes and then pulled it up full of all sorts of things but mostly shrimp. They explained how it is done by the real fishermen.
They are worried about the oil but they say it won't be devastating to them because the shrimp have a way of cleaning themselves out and the oil won't hurt them all that much. They say the stuff you hear on TV is over blown. Surprise, Surprise!
