ZION NATIONAL PARK

Zion is about 100 miles north of Page, AZ in Utah.  We drove to a cross road that went into Zion and parked the RV there and took the car into the park.  There is a highway that goes through the park .  The highway is very mountainous with lots of switchbacks.  The visitor’s center is on the western side of the park and from there they have buses that take you to parts of the park where they don’t allow cars.

The park is beautiful with towering mountains that are awe inspiring. It’s not a huge park, only about 14 miles across, but the park reveals a geologic history that stretches back millions of years; exposing black lava rock and vivid red and white sandstone against brilliant blue skies.  The large white mountain shown in the pictures below is the largest deposit of sandstone in the world.  The views in the park are stunning and there is a new one every time you turn around.  If you like to hike, you could spend a lifetime here and enjoy every bit of it.  If you don’t hike, like us, a full day is adequate and very enjoyable.
