MOAB, UTAH - ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

Arches National Park is just outside of Moab and is amazing.  I think that it is our favorite NP so far.  We really enjoyed the wierd beauty and wonderment of the sandstone formations.  This park is spread out over a 48 mile round trip drive.  Even inside the park there are many differences that can be seen from one spot in the park to another.  There are many notable formations, like the three bishops shown to the left.  There is also balancing rock and, of course, many different arches.

This picture shows the size of some of the formations in the park.
Balancing Rock
North Window Arch
Architectural Arch - This is the biggest arch in the park.  It is over a football field in width and measures only about 6 foot at its thinest point.  They say it will probably be the next arch to fall but that could take hundreds of years.
Delicate Arch - This is probably the most famous of the arches because it appears on the Utah license plate.  To give you some idea of its size, you can see a person standing under the arch in the picture.
